Lando Norris Leads Oscar Piastri in Brazilian Practice
The British driver has outperformed Oscar Piastri at each of the past five grands prix.
Lando Norris just pipped fellow driver and title rival the Australian for the fastest time in the final moments of the practice session at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
The British racer, who took the championship lead from his teammate by a single point after his victory in the Mexican Grand Prix a fortnight back, beat the Australian by a mere 0.023s.
Earlier in the session, Oscar Piastri had been the leading McLaren throughout the hour before the sprint shootout due at 18:30 GMT.
Max Verstappen, the only other driver in the championship fight, trailing 36 points behind Norris, ended up in P17 as his Red Bull team followed a unique setup.
His teammate the Japanese driver was the sole competitor to go off, if briefly, when he rotated at corner four soon after starting.
Tsunoda spun out over the exit kerbs before spinning across the run-off area, and was lucky to avoid just a slight brush of the barrier.
The Ferrari of the seven-time champion also had a spin, at the final moments of the session, spinning around through the fast downhill corner before the final corner on to the start-finish straight.
The veteran ended the session in 19th, one place behind teammate Charles Leclerc.
The McLaren pair were well clear of the other competitors, with Nico Hulkenberg's car third fastest, over half a second behind Piastri's pace.
Aston Martin's the Spanish driver was fourth fastest, with the Sauber of Gabriel Bortoleto fifth from the Mercedes of George Russell and the Alpine of Gasly and the Williams of Carlos Sainz.
