Vinted Users Express Displeasure Regarding Size Modifications
Shoppers are voicing their frustration due to a modification that led to items being listed as the wrong size.
The popular resale platform has updated its size classifications for female and kids' apparel failing to inform all users about the change.
Social Media Backlash
Numerous buyers and vendors are expressing on platforms stating that platform listings now display a modified sizing category versus the original listing because of the remapping.
The platform stated the updated approach better aligns with similar services.
The platform has recommended to review their products and adjust the sizing manually where appropriate, causing user dissatisfaction.
Measurement Approach Updates
Earlier, the sizing featured one number and one letter, for instance S/8 or M/10.
The new system has an alphabetical indicator and numerical range for example S/UK 8-10.
With some products, the size labels have been reassigned - such as a large size used to be a 12 but is now a UK 16-18.
Shopper Experiences
Frankie Bridger, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.
Another user, based in Glasgow, stated items she posted with size 14 tags were showing in the marketplace as larger sizing 20-22.
"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they're going to be very disappointed," she stated.
Necessary Adjustments
Another shopper, based in Derby, stated she felt frustrated due to the update requiring manual adjustment the sizes on "every single listing".
"For me this is particularly frustrating, since I have chronic health issues and selling on Vinted has been paramount for me since losing part of my income," she explained.
Platform Context
The platform boasts over 100 million shoppers, including 18 million in the UK.
It has emerged as a preferred choice compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.
This is not the initial instance where an unanticipated change to the app has proved unpopular: earlier, the platform withdrew an update to its shipping options due to shopper criticism.
